Colorado became a state in August, 1876. It's called the "Centennial State," because it became the 38th state when the U.S. turned 100 in 1876. Often associated with the Rocky Mountains, Colorado's elevations range from 3500 to 14,000 ft. Kansas and Nebraska border Colorado to the east, with New Mexico on it's southern border, and Wyoming to the north. Colorado is known for great vacayions (especially snow skiers), and its cattle industry with farming acreage, where Winter wheat is a typical crop. Colorado is the 8th biggest state in the USA, with a sq. mile area of over 104,100 miles.
